Custo-MORE Service: A Library Philosophy and Practice of Inclusive Customer Service
Have you ever been treated by customer servants as expendable? We have, and we hated it! We believe that excellent customer service in our libraries, not solely programming or other library services, is the core quality that will keep patrons coming back. By providing excellent customer service, we can gain an edge and sustain, if not improve, patronage! In this session, we will discuss techniques and ideas that inform a customer-centered approach to customer service, and include our colleagues in a discussion of best practices.
Attendees will learn how to retain and improve library visitation rates, demonstrate what excellent inclusive customer service looks like, share strategies for building relationships with patrons, and confront the misconception that customer service is a dying art.
Audience: Public & Academic
